The Sonata Hybrid Plug-In holds a six-speed automatic transmission with Hyundai's Transmission-Mounted Electrical Device and a 50 kw electric motor, instead of a torque converter. The 50 kW electric motor is more powerful and allow EV operation at higher engine load and speed.

Via an exclusive Blue Link smartphone app, you remotely manage and monitor their Sonata Hybrid Plug-In. With the Blue Link app you will be able to access real-time data from your vehicle and can even perform specific commands. These commands include starting the engine,locking the doors, and search for points of interest using Google with voice or text command. The most useful feature has to be managing your car's charging schedule to make sure you are never running low on battery.
