The 2018 Mazda3 removes its Touring 2.5 trim and moves around some of its packages and features. The Sport now has a few more safety features and the Grand Touring has LED headlights. The Elantra GT, on the other hand, has received an entirely new look. The Elantra GT now offers a more European look with a lower and wider stance. It comes with more storage in the rear, LED daytime running lights, additional heated features, and a wireless charging pad.

The Elantra GT comes with a 2-liter inline-4 engine that offers 162 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. This engine has an EPA rated fuel economy of 31 miles per gallon with the 6-speed manual transmission or a fuel economy of 32 miles per gallon with the 6-speed automatic transmission.

2018 Mazda Mazda3 Power & Handling

The Mazda3 offers two engines, the 2-liter inline-4 with 155 horsepower and the 2.5-liter inline-4 with 184 horsepower. Both engines come with front-wheel drive. The EPA rated the first engine's fuel economy at 37 miles per gallon and the second engine with 35 miles per gallon. MPG may vary depending on the choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or an automatic.

2018 Hyundai Elantra GT Features & Design

The two trim options for the Elantra GT are the GT and the GT Sport. The GT comes with a rearview camera, Bluetooth, a height-adjustable driver seat, an 8-inch touchscreen, and the ability to add more safety features and keyless ignition and entry through a package. The GT Sport offers larger brakes, a more sophisticated suspension system, LED headlights, and further packages to add even more features.

2018 Mazda Mazda3 Features & Design

The Mazda3 comes in three trim levels. The Sport has keyless entry and ignition, a rearview camera, a 7-inch touchscreen, and has an available package to add more features. The Touring adds on dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and a six-way power driver seat. The top trim, the Grand Touring, includes a sunroof, satellite radio, and a digital speedometer. Further packages can be chosen for more options.


The Mazda3 offers both more trim levels and more engine options, but none of them can top the Elantra GT. The Elantra GT comes with a more versatile capacity and offers many more safety features than the Mazda3.
