2018 Hyundai Elantra Power & Handling

There are three powertrain options for the 2018 Hyundai Elantra. The entry-level engine option is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that creates 132 pound-feet of torque and 147 horsepower. This engine can be paired with either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission depending on the trim level. The EPA gives this engine an estimated fuel economy of 36 miles per gallon on the highway with the manual transmission and 38 mpg highway with the automatic. Eco models are powered by a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder that produces 156 pound-feet of torque and 128 horsepower. This engine is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission and has an estimated fuel economy of 40 mpg highway. Sport models have a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine underneath the hood that generates 195 pound-feet of torque and 201 horsepower. This engine can be paired with a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission and can get up to 33 mpg highway with the automatic.

2018 Kia Forte Power & Handling

There are also a few powertrain options for the 2018 Forte. The standard option is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 132 pound-feet of torque and 147 horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels with a six-speed manual transmission. A six-speed automatic transmission is available as an upgrade. Another engine option is a 164 horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder that creates 151 pound-feet of torque and is paired with a six-speed automatic or manual transmission. The EPA estimates that this engine can get up to 34 mpg on the highway.

2018 Hyundai Elantra Features & Design

Hyundai offers the 2018 Elantra in a total of six trim levels ranging from a well-equipped base to a downright luxurious model! Standard features consist of a 3.5-inch display screen, 15-inch steel wheels, a six-speaker sound system, front disc and rear drum brakes, a USB port, power mirrors, a rear seat with 60/40 split folding, air-conditioning, and a height-adjustable driver seat! More advanced features are available as you move up the trim level ladder like a rearview camera, a 7-inch touchscreen, driver assistance features, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry with push-button ignition, sunroof, Hyundai's Blue Link, leather upholstery, and so much more!

2018 Kia Forte Features & Design

There are only three trim levels for the 2018 Kia Forte. Standard features include a four-speaker sound system, a trip computer, air conditioning, 15-inch steel wheels, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, full power accessories, auxiliary and USB audio inputs, Bluetooth, and a 60/40 split folding rear seat. The only way to get more features is to start adding on expensive packages or upgrade to a higher trim level. Some of those features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rearview camera, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual zone climate control, fog lights, keyless entry and ignition, and more.

Conclusions

It was a tight race but the 2018 Hyundai Elantra definitely comes out on top! To start with the Elantra's entry-level model is equipped with tons more standard features and the base engine offers better fuel economy. Plus the Elantra offers and Eco model for those that are looking to save the environment and save a little more money at the pump!
