Under the Sonata's Hood

As mentioned earlier, the new Sonata will have a refined chassis, suspension and transmission. The chassis was stiffened within the steering system and the steering was also calibrated, resulting in more responsive steering and handling. In the rear, the suspension was updated with new bushings and suspension arms to help the vehicle manage heavy suspension loads, creating a smoother ride. And finally, a new transmission was added, an eight-speed automatic, which will pair with the 2.0-liter turbo boost engine on specific trims. The 2018 Sonata will carry over its three engine options, the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, the 1.6-liter turbo, and the 2.0-liter turbo. The 2.0-liter turbo will be paired with the new eight-speed automatic transmission, while the other engines will continue with the six-speed automatic transmission combination.

Design of Hyundai Sonata

The 2018 Sonata's exterior radiates on the road with vertical LED daytime running lights and new chrome highlights around the window openings. The car lights up even more at night with its available LED headlights with bending light and a re-designed rear taillight display. Moving inside the vehicle, the latest technology features and hardware abounds. All 2018 Sonatas will come with a large seven-inch color touchscreen that integrates Apple CarPlay or Android Auto with your smartphone. And to keep your smartphone charged, there will be an available wireless charging pad in the front console. For rear passengers, a USB charging port will be added in the second row in all models. The available navigation system will now come with a bird's-eye view feature as well as incident data and traffic flow, all with no annual subscription service! And last but not least, one of the more advanced tech feature that will be in the 2018 Sonata is the Blue Link integration with Amazon Echo or Google Home. You will be able to ask either device to start the car and set it at a specific temperature or even tell the navigation system to prepare directions to a specific address, all from inside your home!
