2018 Hyundai Tucson vs 2018 Ford Escape near Catonsville, MD

New in 2018, the Hyundai Tucson updates its multimedia system, adds a few standard features like the 7-inch color touchscreen, and even includes new heated items for added comfort. The Ford Escape brings to 2018 a few new additional luxury features, but sadly also makes its best engine available to only the top trim, leaving all the other trims with more twitchy steering ability.

2018 Hyundai Tucson Power & Handling

The Tucson offers two engine choices both matched with either a six-speed automatic or a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. The first engine comes fully capable with 23/30 miles per gallon. The second engine bumps that up a bit to 25/30 miles per gallon and even adds a little more oomph to its power with an increase in horsepower. These engines both come with the choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

2018 Ford Escape Power & Handling

Each trim now comes with its own engine, all paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. The first engine is only available in front-wheel drive, while the others have the choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The first of the three available engines has a fuel economy of 21/29 miles per gallon.

2018 Hyundai Tucson Features & Design

The base trim of the Tucson is fairly well stocked with each additional trim simply adding more to the plate. No packages are necessary to get the all the luxury, safety, comfort, and technology you could possibly want or need. Simply choose the trim level that works best for you and you're ready to go. You can even get items like solar control glass, privacy glass, heated mirrors, and a hood insulator, all standard.

2018 Ford Escape Features & Design

The Escape has four available trims to choose from. The S is the base trim and comes with very basic minor features. The next three trims are a bit more stocked, but if you want safety or towing features, you will need to add packages, as the Escape lacks in these functions.

The Tucson has better fuel mileage, more feature availability, and a much more comfort related focus, leading to an overall clear win when compared to the Escape.
